Harbor Marine Service opened in 2010 in answer to the need for specialty items not available locally to boaters who shopped at the usual large chain stores or big commercial marine businesses. The owner, Ray Burge, who has been boating continuously since the 70's, attended the Florida boat shows each year for many years. What he discovered was that there were a number of great products being presented at the shows that were not available to the general public. He also found out that it can take months, even years, for the big commercial marine stores to add these unique products to their inventories. There was simply too much red tape!
Consequently, he opened Harbor Marine Service in order to bring these items to the attention and availability of boaters in NE IL and SE WI. While he and his wife entered the boating arena late in 2010, and worse, 2011 was fraught with family illness, Harbor Marine Service slowly began to thrive. And now, having moved past these obstacles, they are striving to continuously expand their website and local inventory with more products and subsequent increased interest from the public.
The addition of a professional diesel fuel cleaning & polishing machine brings to this area a much needed service. The closest, similar machine is located in Milwaukee, an hour's drive, or perhaps much more, depending upon the customer's marina. Finally there is someone locally who can save a large tankful of otherwise totally useless fuel. With no other practical options for treating badly contaminated fuel, the cleaning and polishing machine can be a lifesaver.
Harbor Marine's gas and diesel fuel additives, PRI-G and PRI-D fuel treatments have been very popular due to the success of the products. Boaters are often surprised by how well these additives help; many swear by them.
